Massey Ferguson 05.00.83 – SUSPENSION (Autotronic 4 or Autotronic 5): Issue With Signal Voltage From Suspended Front Axle Position Sensor During Calibration (SUSPENSION)
Issue description
This code indicates that while the tractor's computer was attempting to calibrate the front axle suspension limits, the signal voltage returned by the front axle position sensor (designated in wiring diagrams as component X166) was outside the expected parameters (either too high, too low, or erratic).

Check the cause
Check the wiring harness leading to the X166 sensor for open circuits, short circuits to +12V, or short circuits to ground.
Inspect the physical mounting and mechanical linkage of the X166 sensor on the front axle to ensure it hasn't been bent, damaged, or knocked out of alignment.
Ensure the axle can physically move through its full range of motion by checking the lifting solenoid valve (X154) and lowering solenoid valve (X159).
Repair steps
Resolve circuit issues
Repair any damaged wiring or clean corroded pins at the X166 sensor connector.
Replace sensor
If the wiring is intact but the sensor voltage remains out of specification during testing, replace the X166 Suspended Front Axle Position Sensor.
Recalibrate the front axle
Recalibrate manually by holding the suspension button until the light flashes, holding it again until the suspension reaches the absolute top, and then holding the down button until it reaches the absolute bottom. Alternatively, use the dealer diagnostic tool to initiate the 'Suspended front axle calibration' routine.
