Massey Ferguson 05.00.84 – Suspension Module / Autotronic 5: Issue With Signal Voltage From Suspended Front Axle Position Sensor During Calibration (SUSPENSION)

While the tractor is attempting to calibrate the suspended front axle, the voltage signal returning from the position sensor is outside the expected or allowed parameters. If the stop values are outside allowed tolerances or if the suspension travel is lower than the minimum fixed value, the controller will remain stuck in calibration mode and trigger this fault.

   Check sensor adjustment to verify that it is physically aligned and its travel falls within the allowed voltage tolerances

   Inspect the wiring harness and connector at the sensor (X166 or X167) for moisture intrusion, corrosion from hydraulic fluid or road salt, and ensure the connector is properly sealed

   Test the circuit for electrical faults including open wires, short circuits to +12V, or short circuits to ground

   Clean and Secure Connections

   Disconnect the front axle position sensor. Clean the contacts with electrical contact cleaner, ensure the weather seal is intact, and reconnect it securely.

   Adjust the Sensor

   If the suspension travel is lower than the minimum fixed value, adjust the position sensor physically to ensure it reads the full range of motion.

   Replace the Sensor

   If the sensor has failed internally (often due to moisture or vibration), remove the old sensor and install a new OEM replacement. Handle the new sensor with care, as it is a precision instrument.

   Recalibrate the Suspended Front Axle

   After adjustment or replacement, you must perform the calibration procedure: Hold the front axle suspension button until the indicator light flashes, then release it. Press the button again and hold it until the suspension reaches the very top of its travel, then release. Press the 'off' (or down) button and hold it until the suspension reaches the very bottom of its travel, then release. The system will then set itself between the stops. The 'suspended front axle' indicator light will stop flashing once the calibration is successfully completed.
