   Visual Inspection: Inspect the suspended front axle position sensor (X166) and its mechanical linkage for physical damage, binding, or excessive wear.

   Wiring & Circuit Check: Inspect the wiring harness between the position sensor and the Autotronic 5 suspension module. Look for open circuits, short circuits to +12V, or short circuits to earth (ground).

   Signal Voltage Test: Use a diagnostic tool to monitor the signal voltage from the front axle position sensor. Ensure the voltage changes smoothly without dropping out as the axle moves.

   Secure the Machine

   Park the tractor on level ground, engage the parking brake, and ensure the area around the front axle is clear.

   Repair/Replace Components

   If wiring faults were found during diagnostics, repair the harness. If the front axle position sensor (X166) is physically damaged or failing electrically, remove the old sensor and install a replacement.

   Perform Suspension Calibration

   Navigate to the calibration menu (e.g., the CAL1 screen) on the dashboard/terminal. Select the front axle calibration and press "OK" to start. The engine speed will automatically adjust (typically to 1100 rpm). Allow the system to cycle the suspension. The calibration process lasts for approximately 2 minutes.

   Clear Codes

   Once the calibration is successfully completed, use your diagnostic tool to clear the 05.01.80 DTC from the Autotronic 5 / Suspension module. Test drive the tractor to verify the code does not return.
