Check the cause

  1. Inspect the Auto 4WD button on the side pillar for physical damage, sticking, or debris preventing the button from fully depressing or returning.

  2. Carefully remove the side pillar trim and inspect the electrical connector at the back of the switch. Look for loose pins, moisture, or corrosion.

  3. Trace the wiring harness from the side pillar switch panel down to the Transmission ECU. Check for chafed wires, pinch points, or broken connections.

  4. Use a multimeter to test the switch for proper continuity when pressed and released. If the switch does not change state, it has failed internally.

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect Power

Turn off the tractor ignition and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.

  2. Access the Switch Panel

Carefully remove the retaining screws or pry the clips holding the right-hand side pillar console trim in place.

  3. Disconnect the Switch

Locate the back of the Auto 4WD button and unplug its electrical wiring harness connector.

  4. Remove the Faulty Switch

Depress the retaining tabs on the sides of the switch body and push it outward through the front of the console panel.

  5. Install the New Part

Snap the replacement Auto 4WD switch into the panel until it clicks securely into place.

  6. Reconnect

Plug the electrical connector back into the new switch and reinstall the side pillar console trim.

  7. Clear the Code

Reconnect the battery. Turn the ignition on and use the tractor's onboard diagnostic interface (or a dealer diagnostic tool) to clear the 05.02.32 fault code. Test the Auto 4WD function to verify the repair.
