Massey Ferguson 05.03.55 – TRANS1: Issue With Right Brake Pedal Switch Signal Dyna VT

Issue description

The transmission controller is receiving an erratic, out-of-range, or missing electrical signal from the right brake pedal switch, forcing the tractor into a degraded mode where only the 100% differential lock function remains fully available.

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the right brake pedal assembly in the cab to ensure the pedal returns fully to its resting position and no debris is preventing switch actuation.

  2. Disconnect the right brake pedal switch wiring harness and inspect pins for corrosion, moisture, or pushed-out terminals.

  3. Perform a continuity test on the switch using a multimeter to ensure it cleanly toggles between an open and closed circuit when the pedal is depressed and released.

  4. Check the wiring harness for continuity between the switch connector and the TRANS1 module to rule out an open circuit or short to ground.

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery ground cable to prevent electrical spikes.

  2. Access the Switch

Locate the right brake pedal switch under the dashboard/steering console, directly engaging with the right brake pedal arm.

  3. Removal

Disconnect the electrical connector from the switch. Loosen the retaining nuts or locking tabs holding the switch in its mounting bracket and slide the switch out.

  4. Installation

Insert the new OEM brake switch into the bracket.

  5. Adjustment

Thread the retaining nuts so that the plunger of the switch is correctly depressed when the brake pedal is in its resting (unapplied) position. Tighten the nuts to secure it.

  6. Reassembly

Reconnect the electrical harness. Reconnect the battery.

  7. Clear Codes

Use the AGCO Electronic Diagnostic Tool (EDT) to clear the 05.03.55 fault code from the TRANS1 module.

  8. Test

Start the tractor and test the brake pedals independently and locked together to ensure the transmission responds correctly and the code does not return.
