Check the cause

  1. Inspect the Auto 4WD button on the right-hand pillar for physical damage, sticking, or liquid ingress.

  2. Remove the pillar panel and inspect the electrical connector at the back of the keypad for backed-out pins, corrosion, or loose grounds.

  3. Test the switch's continuity with a multimeter to ensure resistance changes cleanly when the button is pressed and released.

  4. Monitor live data using a diagnostic tool (like AGCO EDT) to verify if the controller registers the switch state changing from OFF to ON.

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect Power

Turn off the tractor ignition and disconnect the battery isolator switch to prevent electrical spikes.

  2. Remove the Pillar Panel

Carefully pry or unscrew the right-hand B-pillar trim panel that houses the secondary controls and ignition key.

  3. Disconnect the Keypad

Unplug the main wiring harness connector(s) from the back of the side console keyboard/switch block.

  4. Replace the Component

Remove the faulty switch or the entire keypad module from the trim panel and snap the new OEM replacement into place.

  5. Reassembly

Reconnect the wiring harness, ensuring the locking tab clicks into place. Reinstall the pillar trim panel.

  6. Clear Codes & Test

Reconnect the battery, turn on the ignition, and use the tractor's onboard diagnostic menu (or a service tool) to clear the inactive 05.X.32 fault code. Test drive the tractor and engage Auto 4WD to verify the repair.
