Massey Ferguson 06.00.02 – TRANS1: Issue With Signal From Right External Rear PTO On/Off Button Dyna VT (TRANS1)

The transmission controller is receiving an erratic, missing, or out-of-range electrical signal from the PTO engagement/disengagement button located on the right rear fender (mudguard). This is a safety and operational issue, as the controller cannot verify the state of the external PTO switch, which may disable PTO operation or prevent it from starting.

   Inspect the right rear fender PTO button for physical damage, sticking, or heavy mud/debris ingress that might prevent the button from returning to its resting state.

   Reach behind the right rear mudguard and disconnect the switch. Inspect the electrical connector for corrosion, water ingress, or pushed-out pins. Check the wiring harness for chafing against the fender.

   Use a multimeter to test continuity across the switch terminals. If it reads open when at rest, or fails to change state when pressed, the switch has failed internally.

   Test the left external PTO button. If both are malfunctioning, you may have a shared ground issue or a larger harness break leading back to the TRANS1 module.

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical arcing or accidental PTO engagement.

   Access the Switch

   Locate the faulty PTO switch on the right rear mudguard/fender.

   Disconnect Wiring

   Unplug the wiring harness connector from the back of the switch.

   Remove the Switch

   Remove the retaining nut or locking tabs securing the switch to the fender panel. Pull the switch out along with its weather-protection sealing rubber.

   Install the New Part

   Fit the new sealing rubber to the new switch to ensure weather protection. Insert the new switch into the fender cutout and secure it.

   Reconnect

   Plug the existing wiring harness connector into the new switch.

   Test and Clear

   Reconnect the battery. Turn the key on and test the PTO engagement/disengagement from the right fender. Use a diagnostic tool to clear the 06.00.02 historical code from the TRANS1 module.
