Massey Ferguson 06.00.03 – TRANS1: Issue With Signal From External Left PTO On/Off Button Dyna VT (TRANS1)
Issue description
The transmission controller is receiving an erratic, missing, or out-of-range electrical signal from the left rear fender-mounted PTO switch. Because these switches are mounted externally on the mudguards, they are highly susceptible to failure from water ingress, dust, mud, and physical damage.

Check the cause
Inspect the left rear mudguard PTO switch for physical damage, cracked rubber weather sealing, or heavy mud/debris buildup
Reach behind the fender and disconnect the switch harness to inspect the pins for green corrosion, moisture, or pushed-out terminals
Using a multimeter, test the switch for continuity to verify that the resistance changes smoothly when the button is pressed and released
Trace the wiring harness from the left fender back to the TRANS1 controller, looking for chafing, pinched wires, or shorts to ground
If equipped, test the right-side external PTO switch to confirm the issue is isolated to the left switch or its dedicated wiring branch
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the tractor ignition and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical arcing or further module faults.
Access the Switch
Locate the faulty external left PTO switch on the rear mudguard.
Disconnect Wiring
Reach behind the mudguard panel and unplug the electrical wiring harness connector from the switch.
Remove the Switch
Depress the retaining tabs (or remove the retaining nut, depending on the exact switch housing) and push the old switch out of the mudguard mounting hole.
Install the New Switch
Insert the replacement switch into the mudguard until it clicks securely into place. Ensure the rubber weather sealing is seated flush against the fender to prevent future water ingress.
Reconnect
Plug the wiring harness back into the switch, ensuring the locking tab clicks. Reconnect the battery.
Clear Codes and Test
Turn the ignition on. Clear the stored 06.00.03 fault code using the AGCO Electronic Diagnostic Tool (EDT) or the tractor's dashboard diagnostic menu. Test the external PTO activation to confirm the repair.
