Massey Ferguson 06.00.17 – TRANS1: Issue With Signal From PTO 540 ECO Button Dyna VT (TRANS1)
Issue description
The transmission controller is receiving an invalid, missing, or out-of-range electrical signal from the PTO 540 ECO speed selection switch. The system cannot verify if the operator is requesting the 540 ECO PTO speed, which will likely disable the PTO function as a safety precaution.

Check the cause
Inspect the X294 switch on the right-hand console/armrest for physical damage, sticking, or liquid intrusion.
Disconnect the switch and use a multimeter to test for proper continuity across the terminals when the button is pressed and released.
Inspect the wiring harness between the X294 switch and the TRANS1 module. Look for chafed wires, pinched harnesses in the armrest pivot points, or loose connections.
Check the connector pins at both the switch and the TRANS1 ECU for corrosion, moisture, or pushed-out pins.
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.
Access the Switch
Carefully pry up or unscrew the trim panel on the right-hand armrest or side console to access the underside of the PTO control switches.
Disconnect
Locate the 540 ECO switch (X294) and unplug its electrical connector.
Test/Replace
If the switch failed the continuity test during diagnostics, depress the retaining tabs on the sides of the switch body and push it up through the console bezel to remove it. Snap the new OEM switch into place.
Repair Wiring (If Applicable)
If the switch was functional but the harness failed continuity testing, locate the break in the wire between the console and the TRANS1 module. Splice and heat-shrink the damaged wire.
Reassembly
Reconnect the electrical plug to the switch and reinstall the console trim panel.
Clear Codes
Reconnect the battery, turn the ignition on, and use the tractor's Datatronic monitor or a diagnostic tool to clear the 06.00.17 fault code. Test the PTO 540 ECO engagement to verify the repair.
