Massey Ferguson 06.00.A1 – TRANS1: Issue With Message On The CAN BUS From PTO Switch DYNA VT (TRANS1)

The transmission control module is failing to receive the expected CAN BUS communication signals from the Power Take-Off (PTO) switch. This indicates a loss of data on the CAN network specifically originating from the PTO switch, which prevents the controller from knowing whether the operator is commanding the PTO to engage or disengage.

   Check the physical action of the PTO switch for a 'dead' feeling, failure to hold its position, or internal contact failure.

   Access the rear of the PTO switch on the armrest/console and inspect the electrical connector for backed-out pins, corrosion, or moisture.

   Test the CAN High and CAN Low wires at the switch connector for proper voltage (typically 2.5V to 2.7V for CAN High and 2.3V to 2.5V for CAN Low).

   Check for continuity between the PTO switch harness and the TRANS1 module, looking for an open circuit or a short to ground/power on the CAN lines.

   Use an AGCO EDT to check for concurrent codes indicating other CAN BUS modules dropping offline, which points to a main harness or CAN resistor failure rather than the switch.

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical spikes on the CAN network.

   Access the Switch

   Carefully pry up or unscrew the console/armrest trim panel housing the PTO switch.

   Disconnect

   Unplug the wiring harness connector from the PTO switch.

   Replace

   If diagnostic tests confirmed the switch is internally open or failing to broadcast on the CAN bus, remove the retaining clips/tabs holding the old switch in the bezel and pop the new OEM switch into place.

   Reassemble

   Reconnect the wiring harness, ensuring the locking tab clicks into place. Reinstall the console trim.

   Clear Codes

   Reconnect the battery. Connect the AGCO EDT diagnostic tool to the 16-pin diagnostic connector and clear the 06.00.A1 DTC from the TRANS1 module.
