Massey Ferguson 06.00.B0 – TRANS1: Issue With Message On The CAN BUS From PTO Switch DYNA VT (TRANS1)

Issue description

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the CAN bus wiring harness between the PTO switch and the TRANS1 module for chafing, breaks, or rodent damage

  2. Disconnect the PTO switch and check the pins for corrosion, moisture, or pushed-out terminals

  3. Check if other CAN bus-related fault codes are present (if multiple modules report CAN errors, the issue may be a broader network short or termination resistor failure rather than the switch itself)

  4. Use a multimeter to verify the continuity of the switch contacts, or use a specialized Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool to monitor the live CAN data from the switch

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the tractor and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shorts during repair.

  2. Access the Switch

Depending on whether the fault is originating from the in-cab command switch or the external fender switch, carefully pry the switch bezel from the console or fender housing.

  3. Disconnect

Unplug the electrical connector from the back of the PTO switch.

  4. Clean and Inspect

Apply electrical contact cleaner to the harness connector. If the wiring is damaged, repair the harness using appropriate CAN bus splicing techniques (maintaining wire twist).

  5. Replace

If the wiring is intact but the switch is faulty, install the new OEM PTO switch.

  6. Reassemble

Snap the switch back into its mounting location and reconnect the battery.

  7. Clear Codes

Use a diagnostic tool to clear the 06.00.B0 fault code from the TRANS1 module.

  8. Test

Start the tractor and engage the PTO to verify proper operation and ensure the code does not return.
