Check the cause
Inspect the Switch Connector: Access the underside of the right-hand armrest/console where the PTO 540 button is located. Disconnect the switch and check for pushed-out pins, moisture, or corrosion.
Wiring Harness Continuity: Test the CAN BUS wiring harness between the PTO 540 switch and the TRANS1 controller for continuity, open circuits, or shorts to ground/power.
Check for Related Codes: Look for other PTO switch codes (e.g., 06.00.B7 for the 540 ECO button or 06.00.B8 for the 1000 button). If multiple buttons are throwing CAN BUS errors simultaneously, the issue is likely a shared CAN wire or ground rather than a single failed switch.
Test the Switch: If the wiring is intact and the CAN network is healthy, the internal circuitry of the PTO 540 button itself has likely failed.
Repair steps
Turn off the tractor and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical spikes.
Carefully pry up or unscrew the PTO control panel bezel on the right-hand console to access the switch assembly.
Disconnect the electrical pigtail from the faulty PTO 540 switch.
Depress the retaining tabs on the side of the switch to pop it out of the console housing.
Snap the new OEM replacement switch into the console bezel.
Reconnect the electrical harness, ensuring the connector clicks securely into place.
Reinstall the console panel.
Reconnect the battery, turn the key to the ON position, and use the tractor's SIS (System Information Screen) or a dealer diagnostic tool to clear the inactive 06.00.B6 fault code.
Test the PTO engagement at 540 RPM to verify the repair.
