   Check the transmission/hydraulic fluid level and condition. Low or heavily contaminated fluid can cause erratic hydraulic pressure and premature solenoid failure.

   Locate the PTO solenoid on the transmission housing and inspect the electrical connector for dirt, moisture, corrosion, or backed-out pins.

   Trace the wiring harness back to the TRANS1 module. Look for chafed wires or pinch points that could cause a short to ground or an open circuit.

   Use a multimeter to test the resistance of the solenoid coil and check if the connector is receiving the proper reference voltage from the TRANS1 module when the PTO switch is activated.

   Preparation

   Park the tractor on a level surface, turn off the engine, engage the parking brake, and disconnect the battery.

   Ensure all hydraulic system pressure is relieved before opening the circuit.

   Locate the PTO solenoid control valve. It is typically mounted on the transmission housing where the hydraulic lines route to the PTO clutch pack.
