Massey Ferguson 06.01.01 – TRANS1: Rear PTO Switch Signal Issue

The system has detected an invalid, missing, or out-of-range electrical signal from the main Rear PTO ON/OFF button located inside the cab. As a safety precaution, when this fault is active, the system will disable the function and the rear PTO will disengage or refuse to turn on.

   Attempt to engage the PTO using the external fender-mounted buttons to isolate the failure to the cab switch or its specific wiring circuit

   Check the cab PTO switch for physical damage, sticking, or dirt/debris that might be preventing the internal contacts from closing properly

   Remove the console trim to access the back of the switch and inspect the wiring harness and connector for loose pins, corrosion, or chafed wires shorting to ground

   Using a multimeter, verify that the switch is receiving proper supply voltage

   Test the switch for continuity to ensure it correctly opens and closes the circuit when pressed

   Check the signal wire for continuity from the switch connector back to the TRANS1 module harness

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.

   Access the Switch

   Carefully pry up or unscrew the trim panel on the right-hand armrest/side console where the PTO switch is mounted.

   Disconnect Harness

   Reach behind the switch and depress the locking tab on the electrical connector to unplug it from the switch body.

   Remove the Switch

   Squeeze the plastic retaining clips on the sides of the faulty PTO switch and push it upward/outward from the mounting panel.

   Install New Part

   Snap the new OEM PTO switch into the console panel until the clips lock it firmly in place.

   Reconnect

   Plug the electrical harness back into the switch, ensuring the locking tab clicks.

   Reassemble

   Reinstall the console trim panel.

   Test

   Reconnect the battery. Start the tractor, clear the stored 06.01.01 fault code using a diagnostic scan tool (or via the Datatronic dash interface if supported), and test the PTO engagement from the cab to confirm the repair.
