Massey Ferguson 06.01.07 – TRANS1 / HITCH: Issue With Rear PTO On/Off Solenoid Power Supply Dyna 6 (TRANS1) / Issue With PTO Solenoid Circuit (Hitch)

The control module has detected an electrical irregularity in the circuit responsible for powering the rear PTO or hitch solenoid. The system is seeing a signal out of range, which typically points to an open circuit, a short to ground, a short to power, or a failed solenoid coil.

   Inspect the main harness and connectors leading to the rear PTO/Hitch solenoid for cut wires, loose connections, separated pins, or harness rub points.

   Use a multimeter to check the resistance of the solenoid coil to confirm it is not internally shorted or open, and verify ground integrity at the connector.

   Check for proper voltage supply at the connector when the PTO/Hitch switch is commanded ON in the cab.

   Supply 12 volts and a direct ground to the solenoid pins to bypass the control module. If it actuates correctly, the issue is in the wiring or controller; if not, the solenoid is faulty.

   Preparation

   Safely park the tractor, turn off the engine, and relieve all hydraulic pressure.

   Locate the Solenoid

   Locate the PTO/Hitch solenoid valve, which is typically mounted on the right-hand hydraulic cover or the rear transmission valve block.

   Disconnect

   Unplug the electrical harness connector from the faulty solenoid.

   Removal

   Remove the retaining screw/bolt securing the solenoid valve. Carefully extract the solenoid cartridge from the valve block, ensuring no dirt or debris falls into the hydraulic port.

   Installation

   Clean the mating surfaces. Lubricate the O-rings on the new solenoid valve with clean hydraulic oil. Insert the new solenoid into the block.

   Secure

   Install the retaining screw. (OEM manuals often recommend applying a thread locker like Loctite 542 to the retaining screw and torquing to specification, e.g., 50 - 70 Nm depending on the exact bolt size).

   Reassembly

   Reconnect the electrical harness.

   Testing

   Clear the fault codes from the TRANS1/HITCH module using a diagnostic tool or the onboard dash menu. Start the tractor, check for leaks, and test the PTO/Hitch operation.
