Massey Ferguson 06.01.1A – TRANS1: Issue With Voltage To PTO Standard Speed Solenoid

The transmission control system has detected an electrical anomaly—such as an open circuit, a short to ground, or a short to power—on the circuit that supplies voltage to the solenoid responsible for engaging the standard PTO speed. When this code is active, the PTO will likely fail to engage or will drop out of standard speed operation.

   Inspect the wiring harness running from the TRANS1 module to the PTO valve block for chafed wires, melted insulation, or pinch points.

   Disconnect the plug at the PTO Standard Speed Solenoid and check for water ingress, corrosion, or pushed-back pins.

   Perform a coil resistance test using a multimeter across the pins of the PTO solenoid (infinite reading indicates an open coil, 0 ohms indicates a dead short).

   Command the standard PTO on with the tractor running and check for proper supply voltage at the harness connector to rule out wiring or controller issues.

   Swap the standard speed and ECO speed solenoids (if they share the same part number) to see if the fault code changes to 06.01.1B, confirming a faulty solenoid.

   Preparation

   Park the tractor on a level surface, turn off the engine, engage the parking brake, and disconnect the negative battery terminal.

   Clean the Area

   Locate the PTO hydraulic control valve block on the transmission housing. Thoroughly clean the area around the standard speed solenoid with brake cleaner to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system.

   Disconnect

   Unplug the electrical connector from the faulty solenoid.

   Removal

   Depending on the specific valve block, remove the retaining nut at the end of the solenoid stem to slide the coil off, or unbolt the entire solenoid cartridge valve from the block. Have a catch pan ready for minor hydraulic fluid loss.

   Installation

   Lubricate the O-rings on the new solenoid with clean hydraulic fluid. Insert the new solenoid cartridge into the valve block and tighten to OEM torque specifications.

   Reassembly

   Reconnect the electrical plug, ensuring the locking tab clicks into place.

   Testing

   Reconnect the battery. Start the tractor, clear the stored DTCs via the diagnostic menu, and test the PTO engagement in standard speed to verify the repair.
