Massey Ferguson 06.01.1B – TRANS1: Issue With Voltage To PTO ECO Speed Solenoid Dyna VT (TRANS1)

The onboard diagnostic system has detected an electrical irregularity (such as an open circuit, short circuit, or voltage drop) on the circuit supplying power to the solenoid responsible for engaging the ECO speed gear of the Power Take-Off (PTO). When this code is active, the PTO may hesitate, fail to engage the ECO speed, or fail to operate entirely.

   Inspect the wiring harness running from the TRANS1 module to the PTO ECO Speed Solenoid for chafed wires, melted insulation, or pinch points along the transmission housing.

   Disconnect the plug at the solenoid and inspect the pins for corrosion, moisture ingress, or loose terminals.

   Use a multimeter to measure the resistance across the solenoid coil pins. A healthy coil typically reads around 10 Ohms. Infinite resistance or a short to ground indicates internal failure.

   Inspect the transmission/hydraulic fluid condition. Contaminated or burnt fluid can cause the mechanical valve to stick, forcing the electrical coil to overwork and burn out.

   Prep the Machine

   Park the tractor on a level surface, turn off the engine, and engage the parking brake.

   Relieve Pressure & Power

   Relieve all hydraulic system pressure. Disconnect the tractor's battery to prevent electrical shorts during the repair.

   Locate the Valve

   Locate the PTO ECO Speed Solenoid on the transmission housing. It is typically mounted on the hydraulic valve block where the lines route to the PTO clutch pack.

   Remove the Solenoid

   Disconnect the electrical connector. Unbolt the solenoid valve from the transmission housing. Have a catch pan ready, as a small amount of hydraulic fluid will leak.

   Clean the Area

   Thoroughly clean the mounting surface on the transmission block to ensure no dirt or debris enters the hydraulic system.

   Install the New Part

   Install the new solenoid valve (ensure any O-rings or seals are properly seated and lubricated with clean hydraulic fluid). Torque the mounting bolts to OEM specifications.

   Reconnect

   Plug the electrical connector back in, ensuring the weather seal clicks into place. Reconnect the battery.

   Filter Maintenance

   If the old valve was sticking due to debris, it is highly recommended to change the hydraulic filter at this time.

   Test

   Start the tractor, clear the TRANS1 fault codes using a diagnostic tool, and test the PTO ECO speed engagement from the cab to verify the repair.
