   Connect the tractor to the Wintest diagnostic software and monitor the PTO speed sensor value and engine speed. When the PTO is activated, the PTO speed sensor reading must equal the engine speed.

   If the values in Wintest are correct and match, check the PTO selector switch circuit or wiring harness for faults.

   If Wintest shows incorrect values, no value, or if the problem is intermittent, test the PTO speed sensor using a multimeter. Check the resistance of the sensor when stationary (expected resistance is typically around 11 ohms).

   Remove the sensor and visually inspect for physical scoring or metal shavings on the magnetic face of the sensor, which can distort the reading.

   Locate the Sensor

   The PTO speed sensor is located on the back right side of the rear PTO housing.

   Prepare for Fluid Loss

   Place a clean catch pan underneath the sensor area. Note: Be prepared, as transmission/hydraulic oil will pour out of the sensor hole as soon as it is removed.

   Removal

   Disconnect the electrical connector from the sensor pigtail. Unscrew and remove the faulty PTO speed sensor from the housing.

   Installation

   Quickly thread the new PTO speed sensor into the housing to minimize fluid loss. Tighten to OEM torque specifications.

   Reconnect

   Plug the electrical connector back into the tractor's wiring harness.

   Fluid Check

   Check the transmission/hydraulic fluid level and top up any oil that was lost during the swap.

   Clear Codes

   Use the Wintest software or the tractor's onboard diagnostic sequence to clear the 06.01.49 fault code.
