Massey Ferguson 06.01.50 – TRANS1: Issue With Values Received From Rear PTO Speed Sensors Dyna VT (TRANS1)

The transmission controller is receiving erratic, missing, or out-of-range electrical signals from the rear Power Take-Off (PTO) speed sensor. Signal loss prevents the tractor from accurately monitoring and displaying the PTO shaft RPM.

   Wiring and Connector Inspection: Inspect the sensor's wiring harness for continuity, pin tension, and chafing. Check the connector for dust, moisture, or corrosion.

   Air Gap and Tone Wheel Check: Ensure the sensor is threaded securely. Check the air gap (spacing) between the sensor and the tone wheel, as improper spacing causes inaccurate readings. Clean the tone wheel of any metallic debris or sludge if accessible.

   Live Testing: Cycle the PTO at different speeds and monitor the Datatronic display. If the RPM readings jump erratically or drop to zero while the shaft is spinning, the sensor is likely failing internally.

   Power down tractor

   Power down the tractor, remove the key, and ensure the PTO is fully disengaged.

   Locate sensor

   Locate the rear PTO speed sensor, which is threaded into the rear PTO shaft housing/transmission case.

   Disconnect harness

   Disconnect the electrical wiring harness from the sensor.

   Remove faulty sensor

   Unthread and remove the faulty PTO speed sensor from its mounting port.

   Inspect mounting port and tone wheel

   Wipe the mounting port clean and visually inspect the internal tone wheel for damage or heavy debris.

   Install new sensor

   Thread the new PTO speed sensor into the mount. Ensure it is tightened to the correct depth to establish the proper air gap.

   Reconnect harness

   Reconnect the wiring harness, ensuring the weather-tight seal clicks into place.

   Verify repair

   Start the tractor, engage the PTO, and verify that the RPM displays a steady, accurate reading and the 06.01.50 code clears.
