Massey Ferguson 06.01.60 – TRANS1: Issue With Signal Values From PTO Clutch Speed Sensor And PTO Output Speed Sensor DYNA VT (TRANS1)

The transmission controller has detected a discrepancy of more than 12% (plus or minus) between the actual speed of the PTO output stub shaft and the setpoint speed of the PTO clutch. This indicates that the output shaft is not spinning at the expected speed relative to the clutch engagement.

   Inspect the wiring harnesses and connectors for the PTO clutch speed sensor (X15 or B021) and the PTO output shaft speed sensor (X16 or B020) for corrosion, chafing, or loose pins.

   Use a diagnostic terminal or multimeter to monitor the live data from both sensors while the PTO is engaged. If one sensor drops out or reads erratically, that sensor is likely the culprit.

   Check the PTO speed selection solenoid valves (X3/X4 or Y026/Y027/Y028) to ensure they are receiving voltage and are not mechanically seized.

   If the sensors and solenoids are functioning perfectly, check for mechanical faults by testing if the PTO clutch is slipping under load, which would cause the output shaft speed to drop below the clutch speed.

   Preparation

   Park the tractor on a level surface, turn off the engine, engage the parking brake, and allow the transmission oil to cool.

   Locate the Sensors

   Locate the PTO clutch speed sensor and PTO output speed sensor on the rear transmission housing near the PTO assembly.

   Clean the Area

   Thoroughly clean the area around the sensor to prevent dirt from entering the transmission housing when the sensor is removed.

   Remove the Sensor

   Disconnect the electrical connector. Remove the retaining bolt holding the sensor in place and carefully pull the sensor straight out of the housing. (Note: Have a drip pan ready, as a small amount of transmission fluid may leak).

   Install the New Sensor

   Lubricate the O-ring on the new sensor with clean transmission fluid. Insert the sensor into the housing, ensuring it seats fully (proper 40mm length ensures correct positioning relative to the tone wheel). Install and tighten the retaining bolt.

   Reconnect and Clear Codes

   Reconnect the electrical harness. Turn on the tractor and use the diagnostic terminal to clear fault code 06.01.60.

   Test Operation

   Engage the PTO at various speeds (540/1000) to ensure the fault does not return and the speed readings match.
