06.01.B5

Massey Ferguson 06.01.B5 – TRANS1: Issue With CAN BUS From PTO Neutral Button Dyna VT (TRANS1)

Issue description

The transmission controller has lost communication with, or is receiving an invalid CAN BUS message from, the PTO Neutral Button. Because the PTO neutral state is a critical safety interlock, a failure in this circuit can prevent the tractor from starting or disable PTO/transmission functions.

Check the cause

  1. Locate the PTO neutral switch on the PTO/linkage console or under the left footboard near the PTO lever pivot shaft.

  2. Perform a bypass test by unplugging the switch wires and using a jumper wire to connect the harness terminals. If the starter cranks, the switch is faulty or misaligned.

  3. Inspect the switch for physical misalignment, paying attention to the aluminum shims used for proper spacing.

  4. If the bypass test fails, inspect the CAN BUS wiring harness between the PTO console and the TRANS1 module for chafing, corrosion, or loose pins.

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts while working on the CAN BUS circuit.

  2. Access the Switch

Remove any necessary trim panels on the PTO/linkage console to access the PTO Neutral Button/Switch.

  3. Remove the Faulty Component

Unplug the electrical connector. Unbolt the switch, taking careful note of any aluminum adjustment shims present on the mounting hardware.

  4. Install the New Switch

Mount the replacement switch, ensuring the original shims are reused so the mechanical lever properly depresses the switch plunger.

  5. Reconnect and Reassemble

Plug the CAN BUS harness connector back into the switch and reinstall the console panels.

  6. Clear the DTC

Reconnect the battery. Turn the ignition on and use the tractor's SIS (System Information Screen) or a diagnostic tool to clear the 06.01.B5 code from the TRANS1 module.

  7. Test Operation

Verify that the tractor starts normally and that the PTO engages and disengages safely.

Parts you might need

Mounts directly to the PTO/linkage console. Ensure you retain your original mounting shims, as replacement switches do not always include them.
