Massey Ferguson 06.01.B6 – TRANS1: Issue With CAN BUS From PTO 540 Button Dyna VT (TRANS1)

The transmission controller is not receiving the expected digital signals or messages from the PTO 540 RPM selection button. This can be caused by a faulty switch, damaged wiring, or a poor connection disrupting the CAN signal.

   Check for multiple CAN BUS related fault codes to determine if the issue is a broader network wiring problem rather than just the PTO switch.

   Inspect the wiring harness between the PTO 540 button (on the armrest/side console) and the TRANS1 module for chafed wires, pinched harnesses, or loose connections.

   Disconnect the PTO switch and inspect the connector pins for corrosion, moisture, or pushed-back terminals.

   Test CAN High and CAN Low voltage levels at the switch connector using a multimeter to ensure the network is active and not shorted to ground or power.

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shorts.

   Carefully remove the trim or console panel on the armrest/side console to access the rear of the PTO switch assembly.

   Disconnect the electrical harness connector from the PTO 540 button.

   If corrosion or wiring damage was found during diagnostics, repair the harness or replace the damaged connector pigtail.

   If the wiring and CAN voltages are good, the internal CAN transceiver in the switch has likely failed. Remove the retaining clips or screws holding the faulty PTO switch and remove it from the panel.

   Snap the new PTO switch into the console panel and reconnect the electrical harness.

   Reinstall the console trim and reconnect the battery.

   Turn the key on and use a diagnostic scan tool (or the tractor's onboard SIS screen) to clear the 06.01.B6 fault code.

   Start the tractor and test the PTO 540 engagement to ensure the code does not return and the PTO operates correctly.
