Check the cause

  1. Inspect the PTO 1000 button on the cab console for physical damage, sticking, or mechanical failure.

  2. Access the back of the switch and inspect the electrical connector for pushed-out pins, corrosion, or moisture.

  3. Test the CAN BUS wiring harness between the PTO switch and the TRANS1 controller for open circuits, shorts to ground, or shorts to power.

  4. Check the diagnostic display for other CAN BUS errors to rule out a broader network fault.

  5. Test the switch for proper continuity/resistance when actuated to determine if internal contacts have failed.

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the tractor ignition and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shorts during repair.

  2. Access the Switch

Carefully pry up or unscrew the side console/armrest panel that houses the PTO command switches.

  3. Disconnect

Unplug the wiring harness connector from the back of the PTO 1000 button.

  4. Repair or Replace

If the wiring harness was found to be damaged during diagnostics, repair the broken wires or replace the affected harness section. If the switch is faulty, depress the retaining tabs on the sides of the switch body and push it out of the console panel. Snap the new OEM switch into place.

  5. Reassemble

Reconnect the wiring harness to the new switch and reinstall the console panel.

  6. Clear Codes

Reconnect the battery. Turn the ignition on and use the tractor's Control Center Display (CCD) or a dealer diagnostic tool to clear the 06.01.B8 fault code.

  7. Test

Start the tractor and engage the 1000 RPM PTO to verify proper operation and ensure the code does not return.
