Massey Ferguson 06.01.E2 – HITCH, TRANS1, or TRANS2: Issue With PTO Speed Too Fast In ECO / Engine Speed Too High For Eco PTO Speed Mode / Issue With Rear PTO On/Off Solenoid Power Supply

Indicates an issue with the rear Power Take-Off (PTO) system, specifically related to an overspeed condition or a power supply fault. In ECO mode, if the engine RPM exceeds the safe threshold, the PTO shaft spins too fast. Alternatively, it can indicate an electrical fault in the PTO engagement solenoid circuit.

   Operator Error Verification: Verify with the operator if they are throttling the engine too high while the PTO is engaged in ECO mode.

   Live Data Monitoring: Connect a compatible agricultural diagnostic tool to monitor the live data from the Rear PTO Speed Sensor and compare it to the actual engine speed and selected PTO gear.

   Wiring and Solenoid Check (Dyna VT models): Check the power supply circuit from the TRANS1 module to the solenoid for damaged wires, corroded connectors, or a short to ground.

   Sensor Inspection: Check the PTO speed sensor for physical damage, loose connections, or a buildup of metallic debris on the magnetic tip.

   Correct Operating Procedure

   If the diagnosis confirms the operator was over-revving the engine in ECO mode, clear the code and instruct the operator to keep engine RPMs within the specified ECO range (usually below 1600 RPM).

   Inspect and Clean the Sensor

   If the code triggers without over-revving, locate the PTO speed sensor. Remove it and clean any metal shavings off the sensor tip. Reinstall and test.

   Replace the PTO Speed Sensor

   If live data shows erratic, jumping, or impossibly high PTO speed readings while the shaft is turning at a constant speed, the sensor has failed internally. Replace the PTO speed sensor with a new OEM unit.

   Repair Solenoid Wiring (Dyna VT)

   If diagnosing a Dyna VT model, use a multimeter to test the voltage at the PTO engagement solenoid connector. If voltage is missing or out of range, trace the wiring harness back to the TRANS1 module and repair any breaks or shorts. If the wiring is intact but the solenoid coil is open/shorted, replace the PTO On/Off Solenoid.

   Clear DTCs

   After repairs are complete, use your diagnostic tool to clear the 06.01.E2 fault code from the HITCH, TRANS1, or TRANS2 modules.
