Massey Ferguson 06.01.E3 – TRANS1: Issue With Rear PTO On/Off Solenoid Power Supply Dyna VT (TRANS1)

This code indicates an electrical fault in the power supply circuit for the rear Power Take-Off (PTO) engagement solenoid. The controller is detecting an irregularity (such as an open circuit, short to ground, or short to power) in the voltage being sent to the solenoid that controls the hydraulic flow to engage or disengage the rear PTO.

   Inspect the wiring harness from the TRANS1 controller to the rear PTO solenoid for chafed wires, pinched harnesses, or melted insulation.

   Disconnect the electrical plug at the PTO solenoid and inspect the pins for corrosion, dirt, or moisture.

   Use a multimeter to measure the resistance across the pins of the PTO solenoid coil to check for an internal failure (open circuit or dead short).

   With the tractor running and the PTO switch engaged, probe the harness connector to verify the TRANS1 module is sending the correct voltage to the solenoid.

   Safety First

   Park the tractor on a level surface, turn off the engine, and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical spikes.

   Locate the Solenoid

   Locate the rear PTO control valve block on the transmission housing. Identify the specific solenoid responsible for PTO On/Off engagement.

   Remove the Faulty Solenoid

   Disconnect the electrical connector. Depending on the specific valve block design, either remove the retaining nut at the end of the stem to slide the electromagnetic coil off, or unbolt the entire solenoid cartridge valve from the hydraulic block. (Have a clean rag ready to catch any residual hydraulic fluid if removing the cartridge).

   Install the New Part

   Lubricate the O-rings on the new solenoid valve with clean hydraulic fluid. Thread it into the valve block and tighten to the manufacturer's torque specification, or slide the new coil onto the stem and secure the retaining nut.

   Reconnect

   Plug the electrical connector back into the solenoid, ensuring it clicks and locks securely to keep moisture out.

   Test

   Reconnect the battery. Start the tractor and use the onboard diagnostic menu or a dealer diagnostic tool to clear the 06.01.E3 fault code. Engage the rear PTO to verify proper operation.
