Massey Ferguson 06.01.E4 – Dyna VT Transmission Controller (TRANS1): Issue With Rear PTO On/Off Solenoid Power Supply Dyna VT (TRANS1)

The transmission controller has detected an electrical fault in the power supply circuit for the Rear PTO On/Off Solenoid.    Verify the code using a diagnostic tool to confirm 06.01.E4 is active, and check for accompanying voltage or CAN BUS codes (e.g., 06.01.1A, 06.01.A1).

   Visually inspect the wiring harness between the TRANS1 module and the Rear PTO solenoid valve on the transmission block for chafed wires, melted insulation, or debris interference.

   Disconnect the plug at the PTO solenoid and inspect for water ingress, corrosion, or pushed-out pins.

   With the tractor on and the PTO switch engaged, use a multimeter to verify if the correct voltage is reaching the solenoid connector.

   Measure the resistance (Ohms) across the pins of the PTO solenoid itself. An infinite reading indicates an internal open circuit (blown coil), while a reading of 0 indicates a dead short. Both require solenoid replacement.

   Preparation

   Park the tractor on a level surface, turn off the engine, and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.

   Locate the Solenoid

   Locate the Rear PTO On/Off Solenoid on the transmission hydraulic control valve block (usually located on the side or top of the rear transmission housing).

   Removal

   Disconnect the electrical connector from the solenoid. Clean the area around the valve to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system. Remove the retaining nut or bolts holding the solenoid coil/cartridge in place. Carefully extract the solenoid valve from the hydraulic block. Have a rag ready to catch residual hydraulic fluid.

   Installation

   Lubricate the O-rings on the new solenoid valve with clean transmission/hydraulic fluid. Insert the new solenoid into the valve block and torque the retaining nut/bolts to OEM specifications. Reconnect the electrical harness.

   Testing

   Reconnect the battery. Start the tractor, clear the stored 06.01.E4 fault code using a diagnostic tool, and test the rear PTO engagement to ensure the fault does not return.
