06.01.E5

Massey Ferguson 06.01.E5 – TRANS1: Issue With Values Received From Rear PTO Speed Sensors Dyna VT (TRANS1)

Issue description

The transmission control unit is receiving erratic, out-of-range, or missing signals from the rear Power Take-Off (PTO) speed sensor.

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness and connectors between the Rear PTO Speed Sensor and the TRANS1 control module for signs of damage, chafing, corrosion, or loose connections.

  2. Remove the sensor and check for physical damage or a buildup of metal shavings on the magnetic tip, which can distort the speed signal.

  3. Use a multimeter to check for continuity, proper voltage, and ground at the sensor connector.

  4. Use a diagnostic tool (such as AGCO EST / Wintest) to monitor live PTO speed values. Check if the sensor is reading erratically or is completely dead when the PTO is engaged.

Repair steps

  1. Power down the tractor, engage the parking brake, and ensure the PTO is disengaged.

  2. Locate the Rear PTO Speed Sensor on the rear transmission/PTO housing.

  3. Carefully disconnect the electrical connector from the sensor.

  4. Remove the retaining bolt securing the sensor to the housing.

  5. Pull the old sensor out of the housing.

  6. Clean the mounting surface and the port to prevent dirt or debris from entering the transmission.

  7. Insert the new PTO speed sensor and secure it with the retaining bolt.

  8. Reconnect the electrical harness, ensuring the connector clicks into place.

  9. Turn on the tractor and use a diagnostic tool to clear the 06.01.E5 fault code from the TRANS1 module.

  10. Test the PTO operation to ensure the speed is reading correctly on the dash/terminal and verify that the code does not return.
