Massey Ferguson 06.02.02 – TRANS1: Issue With Signal From Right External Rear PTO On/Off Button Dyna VT (TRANS1)

The transmission controller is receiving an irregular, missing, or out-of-range electrical signal from the PTO engagement switch located on the right rear fender (mudguard). The fault is typically caused by a failed switch (often due to moisture ingress or internal contact failure), a damaged wiring harness, or a corroded connector.

   Inspect the right rear fender PTO switch for physical damage, a torn rubber weather boot, or heavy mud/debris packing.

   Reach behind the fender and disconnect the switch. Inspect the electrical connector for water ingress, green corrosion, or pushed-out pins.

   Using a digital multimeter set to Ohms, test the switch contacts. A healthy switch should show low resistance (typically 0 to 1.5 ohms) when the button is pressed. If it reads an open circuit (OL) when pressed, or shows high resistance, the switch has failed internally.

   Trace the wiring harness from the right fender down to the main chassis. Look for chafing, pinched wires, or damage caused by rear tire debris, which could cause a short-to-ground or open circuit.

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shorts.

   Access the Switch

   Locate the faulty PTO switch on the right rear mudguard/fender.

   Disconnect Wiring

   Reach under the fender and unplug the wiring harness connector from the bottom of the switch.

   Remove the Switch

   Depress the retaining clips (or remove the locking collar, depending on the exact housing) and push the old switch up and out of the fender mounting hole.

   Clean the Area

   Wipe away any dirt or mud from the fender mounting hole to ensure the new switch's weather seal seats properly.

   Install the New Switch

   Push the new switch down into the fender hole until it clicks securely into place.

   Reconnect

   Apply a small amount of dielectric grease to the electrical connector to prevent future moisture corrosion, then plug it into the new switch.

   Test

   Reconnect the battery. Turn the key on, clear the stored 06.02.02 fault code via the tractor's diagnostic display, and test the right external PTO button to confirm proper operation.
