Massey Ferguson 06.02.05 – TRANS1: Issue With Rear PTO Clutch Speed Sensor Signal

The transmission controller is receiving an irregular, missing, or out-of-range signal from the magnetic speed sensor responsible for monitoring the rotational speed (RPM) of the rear PTO clutch.

   Inspect the wiring harness leading to the rear PTO speed sensor for chafed wires, corrosion in the connector, or loose pins.

   Remove the sensor and wipe the magnetic tip clean of metal shavings or heavy debris that could blind it.

   Verify that the internal tone wheel is clean and undamaged, and ensure the sensor is threaded to the correct depth for proper air gap spacing.

   Locate the Sensor

   Find the rear PTO speed sensor, which is threaded into the housing near the rear PTO shaft output.

   Disconnect

   Unplug the electrical wiring harness from the sensor.

   Remove

   Unthread the faulty 40mm magnetic sensor from its mounting port.

   Clean

   Wipe the mounting port and inspect the tone wheel inside the housing for any debris.

   Install

   Thread the new sensor into the mount. Ensure it is seated correctly to maintain the required air gap.

   Reconnect

   Plug the tractor's wiring harness back into the new sensor.

   Verify

   Start the tractor, engage the PTO, and cycle it through different speeds. Verify that the in-cab display shows steady, accurate RPM readings and that the 06.02.05 fault code has cleared.
