Massey Ferguson 06.02.07 – HITCH Controller / TRANS1: Issue With PTO Solenoid Circuit (Hitch)

The control module has detected an electrical anomaly—such as an open circuit, a short circuit to ground, or a short circuit to 12V—in the wiring harness or the solenoid coil responsible for engaging the rear Power Take-Off (PTO).

   Ensure the PTO is turned off, locate the rear PTO solenoid valve on the transmission/hydraulic control block, and inspect the wiring harness for chafing, pinched wires, or melted insulation.

   Disconnect the PTO solenoid electrical connector and check the pins for corrosion, moisture, or pushed-out terminals.

   Using a multimeter, measure the resistance across the pins of the PTO solenoid coil. An open reading (infinite resistance) or a reading of 0 ohms indicates an internally failed solenoid coil.

   With the tractor running and the PTO switch engaged (ensure you are clear of all moving parts), check for a 12V power supply at the harness connector to rule out upstream wiring or controller issues.

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the battery to prevent accidental short circuits during repair.

   Access the Solenoid

   Locate the faulty rear PTO solenoid valve on the hydraulic block. Clean the area around the valve thoroughly to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system.

   Remove the Solenoid

   Disconnect the electrical plug. Depending on the design, either remove the retaining nut at the end of the stem to slide the electromagnetic coil off, or unthread the entire solenoid cartridge valve from the hydraulic block.

   Install the New Part

   Slide the new coil onto the stem (or thread the new cartridge valve into the block, torquing to OEM specifications). Secure the retaining nut.

   Reconnect

   Plug the electrical connector back into the new solenoid. Ensure the locking tab clicks into place.

   Test and Clear

   Reconnect the battery. Start the tractor and engage the PTO switch to verify proper operation. Use a diagnostic tool to clear the 06.02.07 fault code from the Hitch/Trans1 module.
