Massey Ferguson 06.02.13 – TRANS1: Issue With Signal From PTO 540 Button

The controller is receiving an erratic, out-of-range, or missing electrical signal from the 540 RPM Power Take-Off (PTO) selection/engagement button located in the cab.

   Inspect the PTO 540 button on the cab console for physical damage, sticking, or debris that might prevent the internal contacts from closing properly.

   Remove the switch and use a multimeter to test for proper continuity across the terminals when the button is pressed and released. If the resistance is out of spec or infinite when pressed, the switch has failed internally.

   Inspect the wiring harness and the connector at the back of the switch for corrosion, pushed-out pins, or moisture.

   Check for continuity between the switch connector and the TRANS1 module harness to rule out an open circuit or a short-to-ground in the cab wiring.

   Turn off the tractor ignition and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shorts.

   Carefully pry up or unscrew the side console/armrest trim panel that houses the PTO controls.

   Locate the back of the PTO 540 switch and depress the locking tab to disconnect the electrical wiring harness.

   Squeeze the retaining tabs on the sides of the faulty switch and push it upward to remove it from the mounting panel.

   Snap the new OEM replacement switch firmly into the panel until the tabs lock into place.

   Reconnect the electrical harness to the new switch, ensuring the connector clicks securely.

   Reinstall the console trim panel.

   Reconnect the battery.

   Turn the ignition on, clear the stored 06.02.13 fault code using a diagnostic tool, and test the PTO 540 function to verify the repair.
