Check the cause
Perform a physical inspection of the PTO 540 ECO rocker switch on the side console to see if it feels dead, fails to hold its position, or sticks.
Remove the console trim and inspect the wiring harness connector at the back of the switch for loose pins, corrosion, or melted plastic.
Use a multimeter to perform a continuity test on the switch's internal contacts to verify the circuit closes properly when pressed.
Check the wiring continuity between the switch connector and the TRANS1 module to rule out a broken wire or short in the cab harness.
Repair steps
Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery
to prevent electrical shorts.
Carefully pry up or unscrew the trim panel
on the right-hand operator console where the PTO switches are housed.
Disconnect the electrical pigtail/connector
from the back of the faulty PTO 540 ECO switch.
Squeeze the retaining tabs on the sides of the old switch
and push it up through the top of the console panel to remove it.
Snap the new OEM replacement switch
into the panel.
Reconnect the wiring harness
(it is a direct plug-and-play fitment).
Reinstall the console trim panel
Reconnect the battery, start the tractor, and test the PTO 540 ECO engagement
to confirm the fault code has cleared.
