Massey Ferguson 06.02.1A – TRANS1: Issue With Voltage To PTO Standard Speed Solenoid Dyna VT

Issue description

An electrical fault (such as a short circuit, open circuit, or lack of power supply) detected in the circuit that controls the standard speed engagement for the Power Take-Off (PTO) on tractors equipped with the Dyna-VT transmission.

Check the cause

  1. Check the X778 Solenoid and its electrical connector for corrosion, moisture, or physical damage

  2. Inspect the wiring harness from the X778 solenoid back to the TRANS1 module for chafed wires, breaks, or short circuits

  3. Check the secondary fuse box supply (X904) to ensure the circuit is receiving proper voltage and no fuses are blown

  4. Test the resistance of the solenoid coil with a multimeter to ensure it is within OEM specifications

  5. Verify that the TRANS1 module is sending the correct voltage to the solenoid when the standard PTO speed is selected

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts during repair.

  2. Access the Solenoid

Locate the X778 Standard speed PTO solenoid valve on the Dyna-VT transmission housing.

  3. Repair Wiring

If the diagnostic checks revealed damaged wiring between the TRANS1 module and the solenoid, repair or replace the affected section of the wiring harness.

  4. Replace the Solenoid

If the wiring is intact but the solenoid failed the resistance test, disconnect the electrical connector and unbolt/unscrew the faulty solenoid valve from the transmission block.

  5. Install New Part

Install the replacement OEM solenoid switch. Reconnect the electrical harness, ensuring the connector clicks securely into place.

  6. Reassemble and Clear Codes

Reconnect the battery. Use a specialized Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool to clear the 06.02.1A DTC from the TRANS1 module.

  7. Test Operation

Start the tractor and engage the standard speed PTO to verify the fault does not return and the PTO operates correctly.
