Massey Ferguson 06.02.1D – TRANS1: Issue With Voltage To 1000 PTO Speed Solenoid Dyna VT (TRANS1)
Issue description
The transmission control system has detected an electrical irregularity—such as an open circuit, a short to ground, or a short to power—in the circuit that supplies voltage to the solenoid responsible for engaging the 1000 RPM Power Take-Off (PTO) speed. When this occurs, the PTO may hesitate, fail to engage, or fail to disengage properly.

Check the cause
Check the battery voltage under load and verify the alternator's charging output to rule out low voltage software/logic faults.
Inspect the electrical connector at the 1000 PTO speed solenoid (mounted externally on top of the rear frame transmission housing) for moisture, corrosion, or loose pins.
Trace the wiring harness from the solenoid back to the TRANS1 controller, looking for harness rub points, broken wires, or shorts to the tractor frame.
Use a multimeter to measure the resistance of the solenoid coil to ensure it is not internally shorted or open.
Ensure the hydraulic fluid is clean and at the proper level, as contaminated fluid can cause the solenoid valve to stick.
Repair steps
Park the tractor on a level surface, turn off the engine, and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.
Ensure the tractor is safely parked and powered down before beginning work.
Relieve all hydraulic system pressure.
Depressurize the hydraulic system to prevent fluid spray or injury.
Locate the PTO control valve block on top of the rear frame transmission housing. Thoroughly clean the area around the valve block to prevent dirt from contaminating the hydraulic system.
Cleaning the area is critical to avoid introducing contaminants into the transmission.
Disconnect the electrical harness connector from the 1000 PTO speed solenoid.
Carefully unplug the connector from the faulty solenoid.
Unbolt and carefully remove the defective solenoid valve from the transmission housing.
Remove the mounting hardware and extract the solenoid.
Lubricate the O-rings/seals on the new solenoid valve with clean hydraulic fluid and install it into the valve block.
Proper lubrication ensures a good seal and prevents O-ring damage during installation.
Reconnect the electrical harness to the new solenoid.
Ensure the connector is fully seated and secure.
Reconnect the battery, start the tractor, and check the hydraulic fluid level, topping up if necessary.
Restore power and verify fluid levels are correct after the replacement.
Use a diagnostic scan tool or the tractor's monitor display to clear the 06.02.1D fault code, then test the PTO engagement to ensure smooth operation.
Clear the code and perform a functional test to confirm the repair was successful.
