Massey Ferguson 06.02.41 – TRANS1: Rear PTO Switch Signal Issue Dyna VT (TRANS1)

The transmission control system has detected an irregular, missing, or out-of-range electrical signal coming from the main Rear Power Take-Off (PTO) engagement switch. When this code is active, the system will typically disable the PTO for safety reasons to prevent uncommanded engagement.

   Physical Inspection: Inspect the in-cab Rear PTO switch for physical damage, sticking, or debris preventing it from fully engaging or disengaging.

   Wiring and Connector Check: Remove the console trim to access the back of the switch. Inspect the wiring harness and connector for loose pins, corrosion, or chafed wires that could cause a signal drop.

   Continuity Testing: Use a multimeter to test the switch itself. Verify that the circuit opens and closes correctly when the switch is toggled. If the switch tests fine, the issue is likely in the wiring harness between the switch and the TRANS1 module.

   Differentiate the Switches: Ensure you are diagnosing the correct switch. Code 06.02.41 refers to the main PTO switch signal, whereas code 06.02.43 refers specifically to the External PTO On/Off Button (fender-mounted).

   Preparation

   Park the tractor on a level surface, apply the parking brake, turn off the engine, and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.

   Access the Switch

   Carefully pry up or unscrew the trim panel on the right-hand armrest or side console where the PTO switch is mounted.

   Disconnect

   Unplug the electrical wiring harness connector from the back of the faulty PTO switch.

   Removal

   Depress the plastic retaining tabs on the sides of the switch body and push it upward/outward from the mounting panel.

   Installation

   Insert the new OEM PTO switch into the panel cutout until the retaining tabs click securely into place.

   Reconnection

   Plug the electrical wiring harness into the new switch, ensuring the connector seats fully and locks.

   Reassembly

   Reinstall the console trim panel.

   Testing

   Reconnect the battery, start the tractor, and test the PTO engagement. Verify that the 06.02.41 fault code has cleared from the dashboard/display.
