Massey Ferguson 06.02.55 – TRANS1: Issue With Signal From PTO Neutral Button Dyna VT

Issue description

The transmission controller is receiving an erratic, missing, or out-of-range electrical signal from the PTO (Power Take-Off) neutral switch located in the cab. When this code is active, the system may lock out PTO engagement as a safety precaution to prevent uncommanded implement operation.

Check the cause

  1. Check the PTO neutral button on the right-hand console/multifunction armrest to ensure it is not physically stuck, broken, or packed with dirt/debris.

  2. Access the underside of the switch panel and inspect the wiring harness and connector going to the PTO switch for corrosion, backed-out pins, or chafed wires.

  3. Use a multimeter to test the switch for continuity, verifying that the internal contacts open and close properly when the button is pressed.

  4. Check for accompanying codes like 06.02.B5 or 06.02.B6, which point to a broader CAN BUS communication failure rather than just a faulty switch.

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.

  2. Access the Switch

Carefully pry up or unscrew the trim piece on the right-hand console or armrest where the PTO controls are housed.

  3. Disconnect

Unplug the electrical harness connector from the back of the PTO neutral switch.

  4. Remove

Depress the retaining tabs on the sides of the switch body and push it up through the top of the console panel.

  5. Install

Snap the new OEM replacement switch into the panel.

  6. Reconnect

Plug the electrical connector back in, ensuring the locking tab clicks securely.

  7. Reassemble

Reinstall the console trim piece and reconnect the battery.

  8. Clear Codes

Use a compatible diagnostic tool to clear the 06.02.55 code from the TRANS1 module.

  9. Test

Start the tractor and cycle the PTO through its neutral and engaged states to verify the repair.
