Massey Ferguson 06.02.B9 – TRANS1: Issue With CAN BUS From PTO 1000 ECO Button Dyna VT
Issue description
The transmission controller is failing to receive the expected CAN bus communication messages from the PTO 1000 ECO selection button. This points to a communication failure, which is typically caused by a faulty switch, a wiring harness issue, or a disruption in the CAN bus network.

Check the cause
Inspect the PTO 1000 ECO button on the console for physical damage, sticking, or liquid ingress.
Access the back of the switch and inspect the electrical connector for loose pins, backed-out wires, or corrosion.
Trace the wiring harness from the switch to the main cab harness, looking for chafing, breaks, or rodent damage.
Using a multimeter, check the CAN High and CAN Low lines at the switch connector for proper voltage and network resistance (typically 60 ohms across the network when the battery is disconnected).
Connect a specialized diagnostic tool to the tractor's OBD port, monitor the live data for the TRANS1 module, and press the PTO 1000 ECO button to see if the module registers the state change.
Repair steps
Disconnect Power
Always disconnect the tractor's battery before working on CAN bus components to prevent electrical spikes.
Access the Switch
Remove the necessary trim or console paneling on the right-hand armrest/fender to access the underside of the PTO switch assembly.
Remove the Switch
Disconnect the wiring harness connector from the PTO 1000 ECO switch. Depress the retaining tabs on the switch body and push it up and out of the console bezel.
Repair or Replace
If the diagnostic checks revealed a wiring fault, repair the broken CAN bus wires and use heat-shrink tubing to seal the repair. If the wiring is intact but the switch failed continuity/CAN tests, install a new OEM PTO switch.
Reassembly
Snap the new switch into the console, reconnect the electrical connector, and reinstall the trim panels.
Clear Codes and Test
Reconnect the battery. Use a diagnostic tool to clear the 06.02.B9 fault code from the TRANS1 module. Start the tractor and test the PTO 1000 ECO engagement to ensure the code does not return.
