Massey Ferguson 06.02.E3 – TRANS1: Issue With Rear PTO On/Off Solenoid Power Supply Dyna VT (TRANS1)
Issue description
This indicates an electrical fault—such as an open circuit, short to ground, or short to power—in the power supply circuit that feeds the solenoid responsible for engaging and disengaging the rear Power Take-Off (PTO).

Check the cause
Check the Solenoid Connector: Inspect the plug at the rear PTO solenoid for loose connections, dirt, water ingress, or corrosion.
Inspect the Wiring Harness: Trace the wiring from the TRANS1 controller to the PTO solenoid. Look for harness rub points, pinched wires, or melted insulation that could cause a short to ground or an open circuit.
Test Coil Resistance: Use a multimeter to measure the resistance across the PTO solenoid coil to verify it is not internally shorted or open.
Check Ground Integrity: Ensure the ground connection for the solenoid circuit is clean and secure.
Check Fuses/Relays: Verify that the fuses supplying power to the transmission control module and PTO circuits are intact.
Repair steps
Isolate the Circuit
Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes.
Repair Wiring (If Applicable)
If the diagnostic checks revealed a broken wire or rubbed harness, splice and heat-shrink the damaged section or replace the affected harness pigtail.
Replace the Solenoid (If Faulty)
If the wiring is intact but the solenoid failed the resistance test, locate the PTO control valve block on the transmission. Remove the retaining nut/clip, slide the old solenoid coil off the valve stem, and install the new solenoid.
Reassemble and Reconnect
Plug the electrical connector back into the solenoid, ensuring it clicks securely into place. Reconnect the battery.
Clear Codes
Use a specialized Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool to clear the 06.02.E3 DTC from the TRANS1 module.
Test Operation
Start the tractor and engage the rear PTO to confirm the fault does not return and the PTO operates smoothly.
