Massey Ferguson 06.02.E8 – TRANS1: Issue With Rear PTO On/Off Solenoid Power Supply Dyna VT (TRANS1)
Issue description
The transmission control system has detected an electrical fault in the power supply circuit that feeds the rear PTO engagement solenoid. This is typically caused by an open circuit (broken wire), a short circuit to ground/power, a corroded connector, or an internally failed solenoid coil. When this code is active, the PTO will likely fail to engage, hesitate, or fail to disengage properly.

Check the cause
Inspect the electrical connector at the PTO solenoid for dirt, moisture, corrosion, or pushed-back pins
Trace the wiring harness from the TRANS1 module to the PTO solenoid to check for chafed wires, breaks, or shorts to the tractor chassis
Test the solenoid coil resistance using a multimeter across the pins (a healthy coil reads approximately 10 Ohms; infinite or 0 Ohms indicates a dead coil)
Check the transmission/hydraulic fluid level and condition, as contaminated or low fluid can cause the mechanical valve to stick and overheat the electrical coil
Repair steps
Depressurize
Turn off the tractor and relieve all hydraulic system pressure by cycling the hydraulic remotes.
Disconnect Power
Disconnect the tractor's battery to prevent accidental electrical shorts while working on the TRANS1 circuits.
Locate and Clean
Locate the rear PTO On/Off solenoid valve on the transmission housing. Thoroughly clean the mounting surface and surrounding area to ensure no dirt drops into the transmission block.
Remove the Solenoid
Unplug the electrical connector. Remove the retaining nut/bolts holding the solenoid valve in place and pull the old valve out.
Install the New Part
Lubricate the O-rings on the new solenoid with clean hydraulic fluid. Insert the new valve into the housing and torque the retaining fasteners to OEM spec.
Reconnect
Plug the electrical harness back in, ensuring it clicks and locks securely. Reconnect the battery.
Fluid and Filter
If the hydraulic fluid was dirty, replace the hydraulic filter and top off the fluid to the correct level.
Test
Start the tractor, let the hydraulic pressure build, and test the PTO engagement from the cab. Clear the 06.02.E8 DTC using a diagnostic tool if it does not clear automatically.
