Massey Ferguson 06.03.05 – TRANS1: Issue With Rear PTO Clutch Speed Sensor Signal Dyna VT

The transmission controller is detecting a signal fault (missing, erratic, or out-of-range signal) from the Hall-effect speed sensor (B021) that monitors the rear PTO clutch. When this fault is active, standard electronic PTO engagement may be disabled, though emergency engagement is often possible by holding the PTO button for 5 seconds.

   Visually inspect the B021 Rear PTO Clutch Speed Sensor wiring harness for chafing, breaks, or melted insulation

   Disconnect the sensor and check the connector for water ingress, corrosion, or pushed-out pins

   Perform a voltage and ground test on the 3-pin connector (Pin 1: Ground, Pin 2: + Supply Voltage, Pin 3: Signal wire)

   Verify the continuity of the signal wire (Pin 3) from the sensor connector back to the TRANS1 module harness

   Remove the sensor and inspect the magnetic tip for heavy metallic debris or sludge accumulation, cleaning it before retesting

   Disconnect the 3-pin electrical connector from the sensor.

   Remove the retaining bolt securing the sensor to the housing.

   Carefully pull the sensor straight out. (Have a shop rag ready, as a small amount of oil may weep from the port).

   Lubricate the O-ring on the new sensor with clean transmission/hydraulic oil.
