Massey Ferguson 06.03.06 – TRANS1: Issue With Rear PTO On/Off Solenoid Power Supply Dyna 6 (TRANS1)

This indicates an electrical fault—such as an open circuit, short circuit, or lack of voltage—in the power supply circuit feeding the solenoid responsible for engaging and disengaging the rear Power Take-Off (PTO).

   Inspect the wiring harness leading from the TRANS1 module to the rear PTO solenoid for chafing, breaks, or melted insulation.

   Disconnect the PTO solenoid and inspect the pins for corrosion, moisture ingress, or loose connections.

   Test the voltage at the solenoid connector while the tractor is running and the in-cab PTO switch is engaged. If there is no power, the issue lies in the wiring, a relay, or the TRANS1 module.

   Measure the resistance (ohms) across the solenoid coil pins. If the reading is out of specification (open circuit or dead short), the solenoid coil has failed.

   Ensure the tractor's battery is fully charged and the transmission ground straps are clean and tight, as low voltage can trigger false power supply codes.

   Preparation

   Park the tractor on a level surface, turn off the engine, engage the parking brake, and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.

   Locate the Solenoid

   Locate the rear PTO On/Off solenoid on the transmission control valve block (typically mounted on the side of the Dyna 6 transmission housing).

   Disconnect

   Unplug the electrical connector from the faulty solenoid.

   Removal

   Remove the retaining nut or bolts holding the solenoid coil/valve in place. Carefully slide the solenoid off the valve stem. (If replacing the entire hydraulic valve assembly, be prepared to catch a small amount of transmission fluid).

   Installation

   Clean the mounting surface. Install the new solenoid (and new O-rings if replacing the valve body) and tighten the retaining hardware to the OEM torque spec.

   Reassembly

   Reconnect the electrical harness and the battery.

   Calibration/Clearing

   Use a diagnostic tool to clear the 06.03.06 DTC from the TRANS1 module. Start the tractor and test the rear PTO engagement to verify the fix.
