Massey Ferguson 06.03.1D – TRANS1: Issue With Voltage To 1000 PTO Speed Solenoid Dyna VT (TRANS1)
Issue description
This indicates a control error or voltage irregularity (such as an open circuit, short to ground, or short to power) in the circuit supplying the 1000 RPM PTO speed solenoid valve. In Massey Ferguson electrical diagrams, this specific solenoid is designated as component X4.

Check the cause
Inspect the transmission wiring harness leading to the PTO control valve block for chafing, melted insulation, or pinched wires.
Disconnect the X4 solenoid connector and check for water ingress, corrosion, or pushed-back pins.
Measure the internal resistance of the X4 (1000 RPM) solenoid coil using a multimeter and compare it against the X3 (540 RPM) solenoid coil. An open reading (infinite ohms) or a dead short indicates a failed solenoid coil.
With the key ON (and PTO 1000 RPM selected, if safe to test), verify that the TRANS1 module is sending the correct reference voltage to the connector. Check the ground circuit for high resistance.
Repair steps
Preparation
Park the tractor on a level surface, turn off the engine, and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes.
Locate the Solenoid
Locate the PTO control valve block on the transmission housing. Identify the X4 solenoid (1000 RPM PTO speed solenoid).
Removal
Disconnect the electrical harness connector from the X4 solenoid. Remove the retaining nut/bolt securing the solenoid coil to the valve stem. Slide the old solenoid off the valve cartridge. (Note: If the hydraulic valve cartridge itself is leaking or sticking, the entire valve assembly may need to be unthreaded and replaced).
Installation
Slide the new solenoid coil onto the valve stem and secure it with the retaining nut.
Reconnection
Reconnect the electrical harness, ensuring the weather-pack seal clicks firmly into place.
Clear Codes
Reconnect the battery. Turn the ignition ON and use the tractor's onboard diagnostic display or a dealer service tool to clear the 06.03.1D fault code.
Test
Start the tractor and engage the 1000 RPM PTO to verify the fault does not return and the PTO operates at the correct speed.
