Massey Ferguson 06.03.55 – TRANS1: Issue With Signal From PTO Neutral Button Dyna VT
Issue description
The transmission controller is receiving an erratic, missing, or out-of-range electrical signal from the Power Take-Off (PTO) neutral switch. When this signal fails, the tractor's safety systems may prevent the PTO from engaging or disengaging properly, bringing implement work to a halt.

Check the cause
Physical Switch Inspection: Check the physical condition of the PTO neutral button on the right-hand armrest/console. A common failure is the internal contacts wearing out, causing the switch to feel 'dead' or fail to hold its position.
Wiring and Harness Check: Inspect the wiring harness and the connector at the back of the PTO switch for loose pins, corrosion, or wire chafing.
Continuity Testing: Use a multimeter to test the switch for proper continuity when engaged and disengaged. Heavy-duty internal contacts can suffer from electrical arcing over time, leading to high resistance.
CAN BUS Verification: Check for related communication codes. For example, code 06.03.B5 indicates an 'Issue With CAN BUS From PTO Neutral Button'. If multiple CAN codes are present, the issue may be a network wiring fault rather than the switch itself.
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the tractor ignition and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shorts or accidental PTO engagement.
Access the Console
Carefully pry or unscrew the trim on the right-hand multifunction armrest/console to access the underside of the PTO switch panel.
Disconnect
Unplug the electrical harness connector from the faulty PTO neutral switch.
Remove and Replace
Pop the old switch out of its mounting bezel. Snap the new replacement switch into place.
Reassemble
Reconnect the wiring harness (it is a direct plug-and-play fit) and secure the console trim.
Clear Codes
Reconnect the battery. Turn on the ignition and use the tractor's onboard diagnostic interface (or a dealer OBD tool) to clear the 06.03.55 fault code.
Test
Safely test the PTO engagement and neutral functions to verify the repair.
