06.03.E4

Massey Ferguson 06.03.E4 – TRANS1: Issue With Rear PTO On/Off Solenoid Power Supply Dyna VT (TRANS1)

Issue description

The onboard diagnostic system has detected an irregularity or malfunction regarding the electrical power supply to the rear Power Take-Off (PTO) on/off solenoid valve. This typically indicates an open circuit, a short circuit, or a failed solenoid coil preventing the transmission controller from properly actuating the PTO.

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness and electrical connector at the PTO solenoid for dirt, moisture, or corrosion.

  2. Verify that the TRANS1 module is sending the correct voltage to the solenoid when the PTO switch is engaged.

  3. Test the solenoid coil for an internal short or open circuit.

  4. Inspect hydraulic fluid and filters, as contaminated fluid can cause the mechanical valve to stick and burn out the solenoid.

Repair steps

  1. Preparation

Park the tractor on a level surface, turn off the engine, and relieve all hydraulic pressure.

  2. Disconnect Power

Disconnect the tractor's battery to prevent electrical shorts during the repair.

  3. Locate and Disconnect

Locate the PTO solenoid control valve on the transmission block. Carefully unplug the electrical connector.

  4. Remove the Valve

Remove the retaining hardware and extract the old solenoid valve.

  5. Clean the Area

Thoroughly clean the mounting surface to ensure no dirt or contamination enters the hydraulic system.

  6. Install the New Valve

Insert the new solenoid valve and secure it with the retaining hardware.

  7. Reconnect

Plug the electrical connector back in (ensure it is clean and free of corrosion) and reconnect the battery.

  8. Filter Maintenance

It is highly recommended to change the hydraulic filter at this time to prevent future contamination-related failures.

  9. Test

Start the tractor and test the PTO engagement to confirm the fault code is cleared and the system operates normally.
