Massey Ferguson 06.1.E2 – HITCH: Issue With PTO Speed Too Fast In ECO (Hitch)

Checksum error for rear PTO pulse width (PW) increase faulty or an error in the End of Line (EOL) programming. The tractor's computer is detecting that the PTO shaft is spinning faster than the commanded ECO mode speed, often caused by a corrupted calibration value or erratic data from the speed sensor.

   Connect the AGCO Electronic Diagnostic Tool (EDT) to verify if the Hitch ECU has lost its calibration (EOL programming and checksum error)

   Inspect the inductive PTO speed sensor on the rear transmission housing for physical damage, heavy debris, or moisture in the connector

   Check the transmission PTO hydraulic solenoid valve and ensure the wiring harness is not rubbing or shorting out

   Check the transmission/hydraulic fluid level and quality, as dirty or low fluid can cause the PTO clutch solenoid to stick

   Recalibrate the PTO

   Using the AGCO EDT, perform a PTO clutch calibration. If the ECU had a checksum error for the pulse width rise, recalibrating the engagement parameters will often clear the EOL programming fault.

   Replace the Speed Sensor (if erratic)

   If calibration fails or live data shows erratic PTO RPMs, disconnect the tractor's battery. Locate the PTO speed inductive sensor near the PTO shaft on the transmission housing. Remove the retaining bolt, pull the old sensor, clean the mounting port, and install the new sensor.

   Replace the PTO Solenoid Valve (if sticking)

   If the PTO is physically failing to regulate hydraulic flow (causing it to overspeed or hesitate), the solenoid valve must be replaced. Relieve all hydraulic system pressure.

   Locate the PTO hydraulic solenoid

   Locate the PTO hydraulic solenoid on the side of the transmission housing.

   Swap the solenoid

   Disconnect the electrical harness, unbolt the valve body, and swap in the new solenoid.

   Top up hydraulic fluid

   Top up any hydraulic fluid lost during the swap.

   Verify repair

   Reconnect the battery, start the tractor, and engage the PTO in ECO mode to verify the speed holds steady and the code does not return.
