Check the cause

  1. Inspect the left rear fender PTO button for physical damage, broken weather-sealing rubber, or heavy moisture/mud ingress.

  2. Trace the wiring harness from the back of the left fender switch. Look for chafed wires, loose connections, or corrosion inside the connector plug.

  3. Test the switch for continuity. These fender switches are typically a 'Normally Closed' configuration (rated around 70V 0.5A 10W). If the switch does not open/close properly when pressed, the internal contacts are likely burnt out.

  4. Disconnect the battery overnight or perform a hard reset to see if the code clears (transient electrical gremlins) before tearing into the wiring.

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect Power

Disconnect the tractor's battery to prevent electrical arcing or accidental PTO engagement during the repair.

  2. Access the Switch

Locate the faulty PTO switch on the left rear mudguard/fender.

  3. Disconnect Wiring

Reach behind the fender panel and unplug the wiring harness connector from the switch.

  4. Remove the Switch

Remove the retaining nut or mounting clips holding the switch to the fender extension and pull the old switch out.

  5. Install the New Part

Insert the replacement switch into the fender housing. Ensure the weather protection sealing rubber is properly seated to prevent future water ingress.

  6. Reconnect

Plug the existing wiring harness into the new switch.

  7. Test

Reconnect the battery. Start the tractor, clear the stored DTCs from the TRANS1 module, and test the external PTO engagement/disengagement to confirm the repair.
