   Test the PTO solenoid coil resistance using a multimeter (a healthy Massey Ferguson PTO solenoid typically reads around 10 Ohms; open or zero resistance indicates a dead coil).

   Verify the solenoid is receiving 12V power when the cab PTO switch is engaged. If there is no power, check the main power fuses and the PTO relay.

   Disconnect the implement and test the PTO alone to rule out mechanical binding (e.g., a seized implement gearbox).

   Prep the Tractor

   Park on a level surface, turn off the engine, relieve all hydraulic system pressure, and disconnect the negative battery cable.

   Find the PTO hydraulic control solenoid valve, which typically mounts directly to the transmission housing where the hydraulic lines connect to the PTO clutch system.

   Remove the Old Valve

   Disconnect the electrical wiring harness from the solenoid. Clean the surrounding area to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system. Unscrew the retaining nut/bolts and pull the solenoid valve cartridge from the manifold.

   Lubricate the O-rings on the new solenoid valve with clean hydraulic fluid. Insert the new valve into the transmission housing and tighten it to the manufacturer's torque specification.
