Check the cause
Inspect the PTO 540 button on the control console/armrest for physical damage, sticking, or liquid ingress
Remove the console trim to access the back of the switch. Disconnect the switch and inspect the connector pins for corrosion, pushed-out pins, or loose wires
Check the wiring harness leading from the switch to the TRANS1 module for rub points, open circuits, or shorts to ground
Using a multimeter, test the continuity of the PTO 540 button across its pins while pressing and releasing it. If the resistance does not change smoothly or shows an open circuit when closed, the switch has failed internally
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery isolator to prevent electrical spikes during repair.
Access the Switch
Carefully pry up or unscrew the trim panel on the right-hand console or armrest where the PTO speed selection buttons are housed.
Disconnect
Unplug the electrical wiring harness connector from the back of the PTO 540 button.
Remove
Depress the retaining tabs on the sides of the switch body and push the switch up and out of the console bezel.
Install
Snap the new OEM PTO 540 switch into the console until the retaining tabs click into place.
Reconnect
Plug the wiring harness back into the switch, ensuring the connector locks securely.
Reassemble
Reinstall the console trim panel.
Clear Codes & Test
Reconnect the battery, turn the ignition on, and use the dashboard control unit or a diagnostic tool to clear the stored 06.00.13 error code. Start the tractor and test the PTO 540 engagement to verify the repair.
