Massey Ferguson 06.X.18 – TRANS1: Issue With Signal From PTO 1000 Button Dyna VT (TRANS1)

The transmission control system is detecting an invalid, missing, or out-of-range electrical signal from the button used by the operator to select or engage the 1000 RPM Power Take-Off (PTO) speed. This is typically caused by an open circuit, a short to ground, a short to power, or a mechanically failed switch.

   Inspect the PTO 1000 button/switch on the cab console or armrest for physical damage, sticking, or debris preventing proper contact.

   Examine the wiring harness leading from the PTO 1000 button to the TRANS1 controller. Look for rubbed wires, pinched harnesses, or loose/corroded connector pins.

   Use a digital multimeter to test the PTO 1000 button for proper continuity when pressed and released.

   Verify that the switch is receiving the correct reference voltage and has a solid ground connection.

   If an AGCO EDT or Jaltest diagnostic tool is available, monitor the live input signal for the PTO 1000 button at the TRANS1 module to see if the controller registers the button press.

   Disconnect Power

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts during the repair.

   Access the Switch

   Carefully remove the trim, armrest cover, or console panel housing the PTO controls to access the back of the PTO 1000 button.

   Disconnect and Inspect

   Unplug the electrical connector from the switch. Inspect the terminals for corrosion or bent pins. Clean with electrical contact cleaner if necessary.

   Test or Replace the Switch

   If the switch failed the continuity test during diagnostics, replace it with a new OEM switch.

   Repair Wiring

   If the harness is damaged (e.g., shorted to ground or open circuit), splice and repair the damaged section using proper heat-shrink connectors, or replace the affected harness section.

   Reassemble

   Reconnect the switch, reinstall the console panel, and reconnect the battery.

   Clear Codes and Test

   Turn the key on, clear the fault codes using a diagnostic tool, and start the tractor. Test the PTO 1000 engagement to ensure the code does not return and the system functions correctly.
