Massey Ferguson 06.X.19 – TRANS1: Issue With Signal From PTO 1000 ECO Button Dyna VT (TRANS1)

Issue description

The transmission control system has detected an irregular, missing, or out-of-range electrical signal coming from the PTO 1000 ECO speed selection button. When this code is active, the system cannot verify the operator's request for the 1000 ECO PTO speed, which will typically disable that specific PTO function as a safety precaution.

Check the cause

  1. Physical Inspection: Check the PTO 1000 ECO button on the side console/fender for physical damage, sticking, or debris preventing it from fully depressing or returning.

  2. Wiring & Connector Check: Access the back of the switch. Inspect the electrical connector for loose pins, moisture, or corrosion.

  3. Continuity Testing: Using a multimeter, test the switch itself for proper open/closed resistance when pressed.

  4. Harness Testing: Check the wiring harness between the switch and the TRANS1 module for continuity, shorts to ground, or shorts to power.

  5. Live Data Verification: If available, use a dealer-level diagnostic tool to view the live data stream for the TRANS1 module. Toggle the PTO 1000 ECO button and watch if the module registers the state change. If the tool registers the change but the code persists, the issue may be a software glitch requiring a module re-flash.

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the tractor and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shorts.

  2. Access the Switch

Carefully pry up or unscrew the trim panel on the right-hand operator console (or fender, depending on the exact cab configuration) where the PTO speed selection switches are housed.

  3. Disconnect

Unplug the wiring harness connector from the back of the PTO 1000 ECO switch.

  4. Remove

Depress the plastic retaining tabs on the sides of the switch body and push the switch upward/outward through the panel.

  5. Install

Snap the new OEM switch into the panel from the top until the retaining tabs click into place.

  6. Reconnect

Plug the wiring harness connector back into the switch. Ensure it seats firmly.

  7. Reassemble

    Reinstall the console trim panel.

  8. Test

Reconnect the battery. Turn the key on, clear the stored 06.X.19 fault code using a diagnostic tool, and test the PTO 1000 ECO engagement to ensure the code does not return.

Parts you might need

(1)
  • PTO 1000 ECO Rocker Switch / Push Button

Ensure you are ordering the switch specifically labeled for "1000 ECO" and not the standard 1000, 540, or 540 ECO switches, as they are pinned differently for the TRANS1 module to distinguish the signals.
